I promised a roaster video and here it is. It has taken me awhile and many attempts because I wanted to present something that was not completely and mind-numbingly boring. So here it is, my only mildly dull roaster video. It starts near the end of a city roast while the coffee is still in the phase called first crack. You can hear some of the cracks the coffee is making, although the sound is somewhat distorted by the poor quality of the mic on my camera.

Interesting. How exactly did you modify the grill to do this? Is there a plate above the gas output?
There are a number of modifications to the grill. There are some thin metal plates above the burners, not so much to distribute the heat as to keep chafe from falling into the flame. I also had rotisserie brackets cut from heavy-gauge steel to handle the extra weight of the drum and beans. The drum is rotated by a high-torque motor and geared chain drive. I also installed a high-temperature thermal probe. I am currently working on adding some fans that will improve air circulation in the roasting chamber. Also not seen here is a separate cooling bin I built to rapidly bring down the temperature of the beans, which are exothermic and would continue roasting themselves if not cooled properly.
